Yesterday year 4, 5 and 6 learnt about a new culture, Mexico! As a visual representation of the Mexican culture, the children watched a short Disney movie called ‘Coco’. This movie illustrates the celebration of Dia De Los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead. The movie highlights the importance of respecting family. It also demonstrated to the children the importance of respecting one another in and out of the classroom.
Craft this week encompassed decorating calaveras (skull) masks! As apart of the Dia De Los Muertos celebration, people wear costumes accompanied by a decorative mask. Year 4, 5 and 6 designed their mask with a lot of creativity! They were used to decorate the classroom.
Since it’s the end of the week, we allowed the children to have free play. Mr Daniel took Aarnav, Amaan and Shaurya to play cricket in the gym. Miss Liza taught an acrobatics class to Taylor, Isla, Sienna, Koko, Amelia and Madison. In the meanwhile I assisted Matilda, Sasha, Dana and Nicole with their ‘Mrs Flowers’ origami store!
