Friday the 4th of June 2021, Year 4, 5 and 6

This weeks focus in Year 4, 5 and 6 was getting into our Harry Potter characters with scripted role plays.

Everyone was so excited to get into character and perform in front of the class!

The four groups were split into their Harry Potter Houses; Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

The script used was derived from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Chapter 4: Keeper of the Keys. The characters encompassed Harry Potter, Hagrid, Narrator, Vernon, Petunia and Dudley.

The aim of this week was to enhance student’s oral presentation skills, by using directional prompts on a script and changing volume to emphasise particular words.

Evie in the Gryffindor house performed with great expression and passion to accentuate the characterisation of Hagrid.

Hufflepuff was next to perform. Madison was excellent at playing Harry Potter. She was able to use directional prompts from the script to enhance her acting skills. PJ was also very expressive and confident whilst performing Hagrid. He changed the volume of his voice which kept the audience at the edge of their seats!

Nicole, Shaanvi and Ollie performed representing the Ravenclaw house! Overall everyone in the group played their characters very well, as their practice enhanced their oral performance.

And finally the Slytherin House! Ryan played Harry Potter brilliantly! He used eye contact to engage the audience and changed the tone of his voice to portray Harry’s innocence. Aiden P got into character marvellously! His thick western country accent expressed Hagrid’s character with brilliance! Shauyra and Aiden A were also very engaging with their change in tone and volume. The group also used props by creating an envelope and a letter which I thought was very clever! The audience was so intrigued by Slytherins performance.

Therefore, Slytherin won 400 house points for their exceptional performance!

For the rest of the afternoon, we had a Table Tennis Tournament and 50 house Points was awarded to Aiden A for sportsmanship!

Thank you Year 4, 5 and 6 for another fun filled week!
